How the scalpel is held

Scalpels are mainly used to cut skin or organs. The commonly used scalpel is a combination of a handle and a blade, and there is also a handle and a blade connected. Depending on the location and nature of the operation, surgical blades of different sizes and shapes can be used. There are 4 commonly used methods of holding a knife:

1. Bow Pose. This is a common method of holding the knife with a wide and flexible range of motion for skin incisions in the abdomen, neck, or thigh.
2. Shiatsu type. It is often used for incisions with a wide range and high force, such as incision of long skin, amputation, etc.
3. Pen type. This method is gentle and delicate, and is used to cut short and precise incisions, such as dissecting nerves, blood vessels, and making small abdominal incisions.
4. Reverse pick type. This method mostly uses a surgical blade with a curved surface, and is often used to lift the tissue upward to avoid damage to the deep tissue.
