HUIDA Successfully Develops 23-Inch High-Transparency Pressure-Resistant Spherical Chamber for National Underwater Neutrino Telescope

   As the "durable shield" of underwater detection instruments, this product must simultaneously possess extremely high transparency, exceptional pressure resistance, and outstanding resistance to seawater corrosion. The successful development of the 23-inch spherical chamber not only fills a technological gap both domestically and internationally but has also been directly applied to the national major scientific and technological infrastructure project—the High Energy Underwater Neutrino Telescope—providing solid support for my country's deep-sea exploration and cutting-edge physics research.


   Behind this success lies three years of unwavering dedication and collaboration. Since forming a joint research team with Academician Cao Zhen's team from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in June 2022, we have undergone repeated verification through sample preparation, dozens of rounds of pressure tests, and even real deep-sea environments. Ultimately, we overcame world-class technological challenges such as large-size spherical molding and precision machining of irregular shapes, achieving a leap from laboratory samples to a mature product. This achievement also continues the trust and tacit understanding we have cultivated with the Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, since 2013.
